The Senior Technical Healthcare Assistant will work as part of the nursing team to support the assessment and initial management of new patient admissions to the department, providing personal nursing care and clinical interventions to patients in the inpatient hospital care setting.

Our Technical Senior Healthcare Support Workers form an essential and well‑respected part of our healthcare team on Acute Medicine Unit.

You will be a valued member of the team through our comprehensive training and induction programme and our commitment to learning and development will satisfy even the most ambitious person.

The team Our teams are caring, compassionate and inclusive, so whatever your background, you will be made to feel very welcome. Though working as part of the team you will be expected to work independently being responsible for prioritising your own work load.

Experience in skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, septic screen, swab taking, bladder scans and catheterisation would be ideal but can also be taught as part of the on the job training.

The post holder needs to be able to communicate with all levels of the team and will be involved in training of other staff.

The post holder may contribute to the assessment of care needs and the delivery of planned care under delegation and direction of the registered nurse. This will include recording and documenting physiological observations and changes to the patients clinical condition. To practice in accordance of Trust standards and policies and to work within the boundaries of their role and individual competence.

Whilst this role has an emphasis on the technical aspects of the role, providing personal care, promoting nutritional needs, and assisting in the recovery and recuperation of patients on their journey to better health, are also aspects of this essential role.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are 11hrs working 08:30hrs-20:30hrs or 09:30hrs to 21:30hrs with 2x 30mins break. Please do check this at your interview.

Depending on your shift pattern and working hours, you may also receive additional enhancements to your pay.
