This is a wonderful new permanent job opportunity for a Senior Archivist to oversee the management and development of a highly specialised Archive, comprising thousands of historical records, documents and artifacts as well as the wider business affairs of the organisation.
In this standalone role, you will help shape the Archive, with the potential to develop a significant resource for the organisation.
The Senior Archivist is responsible for maintaining the Archive as a repository of knowledge including oversight of a unique specialist physical and digital Archive, as well as liaising with various departments, and facilitating access for researchers, and the public on request.
Key Job Responsibilities will include:
* Oversee the acquisition, cataloguing and preservation of archival materials
* Manage born-digital files and implement archival policies and procedures to ensure the future safekeeping of recent records
* Manage physical archives across two key sites ensuring their accessibility and security
* Manage analogue digital materials including an extensive photography archive, also involving the clearing of copyright for image use
* Develop and manage strategic projects including digitisation initiatives
The Senior Archivist position would suit a multi-skilled individual with the capacity to work with initiative and independence at the heart of a busy and constantly moving organisation.
You will be a senior Archives professional, ideally with an Archives and Records Management degree, and it is essential that you have a successful career in Archives, including holding a senior Archives position, and including management of junior archivists or volunteers.
You will need to demonstrate both expertise in archival best practice, standards including ISAD(G) and a desire to work with flexibility in a creative sphere.
This role requires exceptional diligence and attention to detail and is also a dynamic position, involving regular project work such as the sourcing of materials for publications and exhibitions.
