Overview

An exciting opportunity for a qualified mental health wellbeing practitioner based at Tekhnicon House, Braintree to be at the forefront in delivering the therapeutic provision offered within the psychological therapies for severe mental health problems service, to meet the needs of the local population, in collaboration with other psychological practitioners and operational leads. The post-holder will provide psychological assessment, formulation and treatment to clients with moderately complex mental health disorders within the service. This will include developing and facilitating group based interventions. The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team\'s policies and procedures.


Responsibilities

* Hold a graduate certificate (Level 6) or postgraduate certificate (Level 7) delivering the national curriculum for Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners (Adult Specialist Mental Health) – please only apply if you have completed this specific qualification.
* Work closely with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver interventions for our service users.
* Carry out relevant risk assessments and risk management with the multi-disciplinary team.
* Engage with and gather information from service users, relatives, and patient records to develop a formulation.
* Work in collaboration with the individual service user and their family and carers as appropriate to develop care plans that are focused on strengths and are outcome based.
* Deliver specified wellbeing-focused psychologically informed interventions, in line with best available evidence, under close supervision from a clinical psychologist or CBT therapist including: Behavioural activation and graded exposure; Teaching problem-solving skills; Improving sleep; Recognising and managing emotions; Guided self-help for bulimia and binge-eating; Building confidence; Medication support.
* Be responsive to service users\' needs and choices; uphold their right to be treated with dignity and respect; include carers and families in line with the service user\'s wishes.
* Carry out relevant risk assessments and risk management with the multi-disciplinary team; attend multi-disciplinary reviews and act as named worker for a caseload of service users to support and monitor progress during multi-disciplinary interventions.
* Set collaborative goals for intervention with service users; liaise with other health and care providers, including third sector agencies and primary care, to ensure continuity of care; communicate information concerning assessment, formulation, and care plans in a skilled and sensitive manner to promote effective multi-disciplinary working and therapeutic outcomes.
* Develop collaborative plans for relapse prevention; deal with endings appropriately and safely with service users, families, and carers.


Qualifications

* Degree level or equivalent 2:2 preferably in Psychology, Education or similar or able to demonstrate the ability to work at that level.
* Completed a graduate certificate (Level 6) or postgraduate certificate (Level 7) in Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner training (Adult Specialist Mental Health).
* Desirable criteria: Evidence of successful postgraduate study or publication; able to assist in assessment and observation activities related to an individual\'s health and wellbeing, arriving at judgements about how to respond within the care plan; able to contribute to risk assessment drawing on complex and multiple sources of information, under clinical supervision; able to analyse and synthesize multiple sources of information to contribute to the team\'s understanding and formulation of service user\'s difficulties and development of a multi-disciplinary care plan; able to establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in distress or who are cognitively impaired, their families and carers; able to receive, understand and communicate confidential client information; able to communicate in a sensitive and reassuring manner; able to make good use of clinical supervision in group or individual format; liaise with other teams and services including external agencies as required for the wellbeing of service users.
* Lived experience of mental health issues / difficulties (Desirable).
* Knowledge of the national NHS transformation agenda, including the psychological therapies for severe mental problems and NHS Talking Therapies programmes (Desirable).


Planning and Organisational Skills

* Essential criteria: Able to assist in planning and delivering psychologically informed interventions to meet people\'s health and wellbeing needs; able to prioritise workload according to changing needs and priorities of the team; able to assist in maintaining own and others\' health, safety and security; monitor and maintain physical and/or financial resources for a work area; able to use basic computer skills to collect, collate and report on client\'s daily progress.
