Job overview

The post holder will be a member of the therapies administration team to ensure an efficient service is provided for adult patients and their carers attending clinics. They will also provide assistant cover to various therapies classes.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the team to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. They will require the utilisation of good secretarial, clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.

A polite and helpful first point of contact for patients, staff, and visitors to the Therapies Department at Weymouth Community Hospital and the Outpatient Therapies Centre in Charlton Down. To make patient appointments. To deal with enquires from patients, staff and visitors including by telephone, email, and face to face. The accurate sending and receiving of electronic data using hospital systems such as PAS and DPR.

The Therapies department is split between three different sites within Dorchester, Weymouth and Charlton Down. They provide clinical appointments, as well as different classes and gym groups.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING


Essential criteria

* 4x GCSE Level C or equivalent including English and Maths


Desirable criteria

* BTEC or HND or NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience in relevant subject


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE


Essential criteria

* Experience in person facing role.
* Experience and ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team
* Experience of using own initiative


Desirable criteria

* Able to demonstrate a base level knowledge of conditions, clinical pathways
* Awareness of clinical governance and its implication for Therapy
* Previous experience of working in administrative post


SKILLS & ABILITIES


Essential criteria

* Willingness and ability to undertake training.
* Able to communicate routine information to patients, carers other health professionals and team.
* Positive interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Good time management skills with ability to organise prioritise.
* Able to provide a good standard of clear concise, written, and verbal reports in English
* IT skills, including using hospital data bases, word processing and email
* Ability to manage own stress and work in a stressful and unpredictable environment
* To show empathy and fairness to give support to others
* Understanding and importance of confidentiality.
