This is a rare opportunity for a senior academic to shape the scientific foundation of a contemporary pharmacy curriculum, while also helping to establish and lead research activity in pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical sciences within an ambitious and supportive academic environment.

The Role

As Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences, you will:

1. Provide strategic leadership for the scientific curriculum of the MPharm programme, with specific responsibility for pharmaceutics and its integration with pharmacology, chemistry, and microbiology
2. Lead the design, delivery, and continuous enhancement of science modules across all years of the MPharm, in line with GPhC Initial Education and Training Standards
3. Deliver high‑quality, research‑informed teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
4. Play a key role in GPhC accreditation activity, working closely with academic and clinical colleagues
5. Maintain and develop an active research profile with outputs of REF‑appropriate quality
6. Provide research leadership in pharmaceutical sciences, contributing to funding applications, doctoral supervision, and the development of a sustainable research culture
7. Contribute to the wider academic leadership and strategic development of the Pharmacy School and the University

This is a teaching and research contract, with clear expectations and support for excellence in both domains.

The Person

You will be an established academic who brings:

8. A PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related discipline
9. Extensive experience teaching pharmaceutics or pharmaceutical sciences in higher education
10. Proven leadership in curriculum design and delivery for MPharm or equivalent professional programmes
11. A strong understanding of GPhC standards and their implications for science education
12. A credible and active research profile, with publications suitable for REF and evidence of research leadership or emerging leadership
13. Experience of supervising postgraduate research students
14. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Senior or Principal Fellowship desirable)
15. A collaborative, inclusive, and forward‑looking approach to academic leadership

Registration as a pharmacist with the GPhC is welcomed but not essential.
