The Role
A caring and inclusive primary school in Speke, Liverpool, is currently seeking a committed, patient, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. This role provides an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and who understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and structured support in helping children thrive.
You will be working closely with pupils who present with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and moderate learning difficulties. Support will be delivered on a 1:1 basis and through targeted small group interventions, depending on the needs outlined in pupils’ EHCPs and individual support plans.

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Speke, your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 SEN support to pupils with additional needs
* Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation
* Assisting pupils to access the curriculum in an inclusive and meaningful way
* Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
* Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social interaction
* Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and self-confidence
* Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff
* Supporting pupils during transitions, playtimes, and lunchtimes
* Using visual supports, sensory resources, and differentiated learning materials
* Monitoring pupil progress and recording observations
* Providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to review meetings
* Supporting personal care where required (training provided if necessary)
* Maintaining a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
* Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:
* Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
* Is patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient
* Has a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
* Is confident supporting behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
* Is flexible, proactive, and reliable
* Has strong communication and teamwork skills

Experience with EHCPs, sensory integration strategies, speech and language interventions, or SEMH support is desirable but not essential, as training and ongoing support will be provided.
