About the Company
We are currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratories Risk and Health & Safety Manager to join a growing team. We have over 35 years’ experience in providing pathology services across various disciplines, including allergy, biochemistry, endocrinology, haematology, histopathology, immunology, microbiology, and serology, with state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation.
About the Role
The role holder will promote and support risk control and prevention strategies, integrating risk management into daily operations.
Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Head of Governance as required.
* Ensure a patient-focused quality governance agenda is defined and reported to the Senior Management Team.
* Embed quality and risk management throughout the laboratory with support, advice, and guidance on governance.
* Support effective and transparent complaint management complying with legislation and learning from feedback.
* Develop relationships with key stakeholders and monitor quality assurance processes.
* Provide strategic leadership to the governance team.
* Ensure resources and expertise for health and safety advice are available.
* Lead root cause analysis for serious incidents.
* Promote learning from incidents to foster a patient-focused culture.
* Advise the Senior Leadership Team on high-risk incidents impacting safety or reputation.
* Maintain risk registers aligned with strategic and governance frameworks.
* Implement and develop compliance with CQC standards, working with teams to ensure understanding and ownership.
* Deliver training and develop performance monitoring systems.
* Ensure compliance schemes are embedded and monitored within laboratories.
* Review national guidance and legislation, developing governance assurance frameworks.
* Support the implementation of UK Business Continuity and Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies.
Required Skills
* Experience in risk management and laboratory health and safety.
* Strong understanding of ISO15190 and ISO22367.
* Awareness of ISO15189.

Salary: Competitive, up to £70k depending on experience.
