Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our Court of Protection department. recognised by Legal 500 as a tier 3 firm in Manchester, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic COP Paralegal to join the team. You will be based in the Court of Protection department, focusing on safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people. The team offers advice on various Court of Protection issues, with an emphasis on protecting and supporting vulnerable individuals and helping clients manage their property and financial affairs. The team handles a substantial number of clients who have deputies appointed, assisting individuals with acquired brain injuries, dementia/Alzheimer\s, and other serious injuries in managing their financial matters. The role will involve providing cost effective administrative support to the partner and other senior fee-earners, with some elements of fee-earning work under supervision but not as a designated matter handler.
Responsibilities
* Providing paralegal support to the Court of Protection Team
* Supporting the existing Paralegal with client unoccupied property inspections
* Attending client property clearances and lock changes
* Liaising with estate agents and other professionals
* Preparing detailed and accurate file notes
* General administrative support
Qualifications
* Paralegal who has previously carried a case load or equivalent legal experience
* Strong interest in mental capacity law and vulnerable client work
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High level of empathy and professionalism
* Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
* Desirable: Previous experience in Court of Protection or Private Client work
* Desirable: Experience working with vulnerable individuals or in a care setting
