The Company:Our client is a respected New Zealand manufacturer specialising in the design and production of agricultural equipment. Renowned for quality craftsmanship and a strong safety culture, they operate with a collaborative, close-knit team and are seeking a skilled Welder to support their growing production demands in Timaru.
Key Responsibilities:As a Welder, your main responsibilities will include welding, fabricating, and preparing farming equipment and attachments. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Fabricate, position, and align components using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
* Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to assemble structural and mechanical parts
* Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to complete precise fabrication work
* Perform quality checks and inspect materials and welds for defects or non-conformance
* Use pre-fabrication machinery such as manual lathes, band saws, and drills
* Maintain health and safety standards in compliance with workshop procedures
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Minimum of 5 years' proven experience in welding and metal fabrication
* Experience using MIG welding techniques and reading technical drawings
* Ability to operate fabrication tools including lathes and drills
* Physically fit and comfortable with manual work in a workshop setting
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
* Forklift licence preferred NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Engineering Fabrication would be an advantageous
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
* Must have a clean police report with no charges pending
