Head of finance & corporate services

Robertson Bell is delighted to be supporting a highly respected organisation to recruit a Head of Finance & Corporate Services. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to work closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, providing strategic insight, strengthening financial processes and supporting long-term sustainability.

As a trusted finance partner, you will combine technical expertise with a collaborative approach, helping to embed best practice, improve ways of working and ensure strong financial governance across the organisation.

What you'll do - and what you'll gain

• Partner with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team to provide clear financial advice, insight and challenge.
• Lead and develop a small finance team, creating a positive and high-performing culture.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning to support organisational objectives.
• Prepare high-quality management accounts, financial reports and statutory accounts for senior stakeholders and Board members.
• Oversee audit processes, financial controls, compliance and governance requirements.
• Manage cashflow, financial risks and reporting, ensuring the organisation remains financially sustainable.
• Review and improve finance processes, systems and reporting, including supporting the continued development of financial systems.
• Take ownership of key operational areas including payroll, procurement and resource management.
• Provide strategic oversight of technology and systems improvements, ensuring solutions support wider business needs.
• Contribute as a member of the senior leadership team, supporting wider organisational strategy and improvement initiatives.

What you'll need

• A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience.
• Experience operating at a senior finance level, within a regulated and complex organisation.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience across financial reporting, budgeting, audit and governance.
• Experience leading and developing a finance team, with the ability to build trust and improve performance.
• A collaborative leadership style, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders constructively.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify improvements and drive change.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information into clear recommendations.
• Experience within housing, care, charity, public sector or another regulated environment would be highly advantageous.

Location & Working Pattern

Based in Kent, with hybrid working available. The successful candidate will be expected to spend a minimum of three days per week onsite, with flexibility around working patterns.
