Radiology Assistant

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, caring individual passionate about patient care to join our Radiology team at the Community Diagnostics Centre in Telford.
This role is varied and engaging, offering rotation across X‑ray, MRI, CT and ultrasound scanning. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, liaising with other departments and supporting patient care throughout the 8‑hour service which operates 7 days a week.
Main duties of the job
* Provide care for patients, carers, visitors and relatives during their visit to the Department.
* Act as a chaperone in line with Trust policy.
* Assist with the movement of patients in the examination rooms.
* Use the Radiology information system (CRIS) to record the patient’s Radiology episode.
* Maintain records, both paper and electronic, in accordance with Trust policies.
* Ensure equipment is used correctly and report any faults or concerns to senior staff.
* Liaise with a wide range of staff caring for the patient, including medical, ward and other department staff.
* Assist with audit projects as required.
* Dispose of clinical sharps and waste in line with Trust policy.
* Maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the entire Radiology Department.
* Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
* Work as part of an integrated team.
* Comply with Health & Safety, IRMER (ionising radiation law) and all relevant Trust policies and procedures.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* English GCSE (or equivalent) with a grade of 9‑4.
* Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent) with a grade of 9‑4.
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
Skills
* Experience using basic IT applications.
Experience
* Experience in a public‑facing role.
* Experience working in the public sector.
