Are you a recent graduate eager to gain hands-on experience in education while supporting young adults on their journey to independence?
A welcoming and inclusive Post-16 provision in Gateshead is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with learners aged 16–19 who have a range of additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, or learning difficulties. Ideal for those considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or social care.
Key Responsibilities of the Grad TA POST 16:
* Support students in lessons, helping them access learning and remain engaged.
* Provide 1:1 or small group interventions, focusing on academic, social, or life skills development.
* Assist teaching staff in planning, preparation, and classroom management.
* Help promote independence and confidence among learners.
* Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and personal goals.
* Communicate effectively with staff, students, and occasionally families/carers.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and behaviour as required.
Job Requirements of the Grad TA POST 16:
* A degree in any discipline – psychology, education, health & social care or related fields are especially welcome.
* Passion for working with young people, particularly those with additional needs.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to learning support.
* Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting learning.
* Have anupdated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps)and anenhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
