Main duties of the job
* Supporting all clinical areas of the Trust as required.
* Taking personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring Trust and local policies are followed and duties align with the NMC code.
* Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
* Supervision and guidance of other staff including health care support workers and students as required.
Applicants Must
* Hold RN (adult) registration with current NMC license to practice
* Minimum of 12 months post-qualification experience (15 months for NQN's - 3 months preceptorship, then 12 months acute experience)
* Recent acute hospital experience within the last 18-24 months
* Ability to commit to a 4-day induction programme if successful
* Right to work in the UK (with relevant Adaptation/ONP if applicable)
* Ability to commence work within 3 months of offer

* Carry out planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision in accordance with established nursing procedures and policies.
* Report significant changes in a patient’s condition to the multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver care within a defined area and support health promotion through education and advice.
* Refer to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.
* Ensure safe ordering, administration and custody of medications according to Trust policies.
* In the absence of senior staff, delegate and supervise appropriate work to other qualified staff, HCAs and students.
* Assist in coordinating discharge planning in partnership with the multidisciplinary team where relevant.
Person specification
Education/Training/Qualifications
* Essential: Registered Nurse with current live NMC Registration
* Essential: Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable: Teaching and assessing qualification (998 or equivalent)
Work Experience
* Essential: Training required by the ward/department (e.g., IV drug administration, cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs, catheterisation, PCA and epidural training)
* Essential: Minimum 12 months post-qualification experience (15 months for NQN's)
* Essential: Recent acute hospital experience within the last 18-24 months
* Essential: Ability to commence work within 3 months of offer
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* Essential: Advanced communication skills (verbal and written) including report writing
