Birmingham Civic Housing Association is a registered provider of social housing operating in Birmingham. As a general needs provider, we offer homes to families, young and older people from a range of backgrounds with varied needs, this sets us apart from other small providers in the area who tend to specialise in services and accommodation for specific client groups.
We are a caring and responsible landlord, we pride ourselves on getting to know all our tenants having personal contact with them at least once a year and delivering a friendly, reliable, and individual service that meets their needs.
Our volunteer Board of Management oversees our work. We have nine board members with a range of skills and experience in business and social housing. They meet a minimum of five times a year to set strategic directions, monitor performance and ensure the association is compliant with relevant laws and regulations. An Audit Sub-Committee oversees risk management, internal and external audit programmes and financial performance.
We are seeking a talented individual with effective leadership skills and a strategic mindset to join the Board. No previous experience as a board member is needed, however, we are seeking an applicant with experience in property / asset management and knowledge of building safety regulations in the social housing sector.

Skills and Experience
You will have professional experience in property/ asset management, preferably in the social housing sector and a good understanding of the statutory and regulatory duties of social landlords relating to building safety. In addition, you will have the following skills and abilities:
* be able to work effectively as a team member
* be able to think strategically
* respect diversity and value difference
* believe in the values and mission of the association
* be able to act as a critical friend, having the confidence to ask questions constructively and challenge when appropriate
Knowledge of the regulatory framework for social housing is desirable.
Induction and training will be provided to successful applicants.
