Our mission is to decarbonise and improve battery production by helping the industry to shift to dry electrode coating. We work with the battery industry to optimise dry electrode coating, manufacturing better and more sustainable batteries at lower cost. Anaphite was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in central Bristol in the Southwest of the UK.



Summary:



The HR Advisor will provide advice, proactive support, and hands-on delivery across the full spectrum of HR activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to gain broad exposure to all areas of HR and play a key role in shaping and growing the HR function. As part of a small team, the HR Advisor will work closely with and receive ongoing support from the HR Manager, ensuring continuous development and guidance.


The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running, build strong relationships across all levels of the business, demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement to drive continuous development and efficiency within the HR team.



Responsibilities/Duties:


Recruitment & Onboarding:


* Partner with hiring managers to plan and deliver end-to-end recruitment, including reviewing job descriptions, drafting and advertising roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, managing communications, and supporting the offer and pre-employment process;
* Maintain a consistent and engaging candidate experience, ensuring timely communication and professionalism at every stage;
* Lead the implementation of an applicant tracking system (ATS), from researching and contacting providers to coordinating system setup, testing, training, and rollout across the organisation;
* Take ownership of delivering a structured and positive onboarding experience for new colleagues, continually refining induction content and processes and
* Drive improvements to probation and early career programmes to support retention, including monitoring induction surveys, tracking key milestones, and ensuring the completion and follow-up of all onboarding documentation.



Performance & Development:


* Support and guide managers through performance review cycles, including coaching on delivering feedback, setting objectives, and managing performance improvement plans;
* Take ownership of implementing, maintaining, and continuously refining appraisal frameworks and tools;
* Coordinate the booking of training courses, collation of training certificates and employee’s records are kept up to date and
* Contribute to the design and implementation of structured learning tools and platforms for employees, such as a Knowledge Hub, induction mandatory training, and a training matrix to support organisational capability and development.



HR Projects:


* Lead on the creation of an employee handbook and key HR policies to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company values;
* Lead the delivery of HR initiatives such as mentorship schemes and ESG-related projects;
* Support the development of HR metrics dashboards and support in the preparation of regular and ad hoc reports for the HR Manager;
* Assist with the implementation and promotion of employee benefits, including schemes such as Cycle to Work;
* Lead the creation and maintenance of an HR section on SharePoint to ensure easy access to key HR information for all employees and
* Contribute to the continuous development and optimisation of our HRIS (i.e Bob) to enhance HR service delivery and user experience.

* Take ownership of day-to-day benefits administration and communication, acting as the primary point of contact for external providers and ensuring employees are well-informed;
* Support the annual pay and benefits review process, including data preparation, analysis, and documentation;
* Contribute to the design and implementation of employee recognition programmes, support benchmarking of salary data, and assist in reviewing and refining pay structures to ensure competitiveness and fairness;
* Support the analysis of benefits costs and help identify opportunities for optimisation and
* Assist with the implementation and communication of new employee benefits to enhance the overall employee value proposition.


Legal and Compliance:


* Take responsibility for ensuring HR policies, processes, and employee records are compliant with legal, regulatory, and best practice standards (e.g. Right to Work checks, Equality Act 2010);
* Lead the review, development, and implementation of new and updated HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current legislation, internal practices, and industry benchmarks. Identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing and consistency;
* Communicate policy updates effectively to managers and employees, providing clear guidance and supporting materials to promote understanding and compliance and
* Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of diversity and inclusion metrics, contributing to data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement in HR practices.



Culture & Engagement:


* Proactively identify and act on opportunities to enhance the employee experience, wellbeing and retention;
* Promote Diversity, Equity & Inclusion by supporting initiatives and embedding inclusive practices across the employee lifecycle;
* Coordinate and take ownership of internal communications related to HR projects and initiatives, ensuring messaging is clear, timely, and aligned with cultural goals;
* Implement pulse and annual engagement surveys to measure and drive engagement;
* Analyse survey results, design meaningful action plans based on feedback, and support manager enablement by helping leaders implement actions and drive accountability across teams and
* Support the development of employer branding initiatives.



Employee Relations:


* Be the first point of contact for managers with day-to-day HR questions, passing on more complex issues to the HR Manager, who takes the lead on advising and making sure policies, procedures, and employment laws are applied fairly and consistently;
* Manage and lead employee relations cases as needed (e.g. disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, probation, flexible working), including preparing documentation and supporting meetings when required and
* Support change management initiatives during organisational restructures and/or transitions, including handling employee communications, facilitating consultation processes, and providing transition support.



Required Proficiencies/Experience:



Essential:


* CIPD Level 5 qualified or Degree in HR (working towards) or equivalent experience;
* Solid generalist HR experience, including advising managers, providing training and leading on some HR projects and initiatives;
* Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice;
* Ability to coach managers and colleagues;
* Confident in presenting to individuals or groups;
* Strong planning and organisational skills;
* Excellent communication skills to build trusting relationships across all levels;
* Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and deliver effectively to deadlines and
* Work with high levels of integrity and confidentiality.



Desirable:


* Train the trainer qualification or formal training delivery certification;
* Experience supporting and delivering L&D iniatives such as induction and structured training;
* Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment;
* Experience with HRIS (especially Bob) and HR reporting;
* Experience supporting and delivering L&D iniatives such as induction and structured training and
* Exposure to learning and development initiatives or environments.
