This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for apprentices with A-levels in business, accounting, finance, maths, or a related field to develop their skills and knowledge in accounting. Under the guidance of experienced accountants, you will participate in producing first draft financial statements, preparation of basic tax computations and build great client relationships.Key Responsibilities:
* Review the client records, produce the trial balance for import to the accounting software and complete the necessary supporting period working papers
* Raise initial queries to discuss with the portfolio holder/reviewer, and where possible clear basic level queries directly with the client
* Produce first draft financial statements for review
* Preparation of basic tax computations, enter the details into the taxation software and complete the tax working papers schedule
* Ensure the appropriate adjustments are made to the financial statements and tax returns following review and ensure queries are cleared appropriately ahead of sending draft financial statements to the client
* Following the client review/meeting, ensure any final adjustments are processed in the financial statements and taxation software and ensure that the client signing pack is prepared for release
* Once signed, ensure the file is prepared for lockdown, and copies of the various signed documents are filed in the relevant places in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
* Prepare bound accounts ready to be sent and any associated opening balance journals
* Build great client relationships
* Draft client meeting agendas and service plans
Qualifications:
* A-levels at grade A* – C in accounting, finance, maths, or a related field
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
