Job summary
As Clinical Director for PHL Healthcare your role is pivotal in providing dedicated professional clinical leadership and influence, driving clinical excellence in the services provided. You will be accountable for the delivery of safe, caring, and high quality services, assuring people that use our services feel they are in safe hands and have a good experience. You will lead with integrity and resilience, and always showing you truly care, displaying compassion and advocacy for the patient at a senior level as a member of the Healthcare Division Leadership Team As a patient advocate you will commit to our culture that we continuously learn, listening to patients and strive to always be better. Your role therefore is crucial to improving the quality and value of care and shaping the PHL Healthcare organisational culture and strategic vision and communicating these to our people on the front have a shared responsibility for strategy, governance, quality, and operational decisions within the Healthcare Division Leadership Team and work closely with PHL Group Director of Nursing & Quality. You will collaborate with key team members to pioneer innovation and ensure compliance with PHL Group governance and quality framework and the IHPN Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework and other regulatory requirements.

1. Extensive experience of working within urgent care and primary care
2. Experience of working at a senior level in healthcare
3. Strategic development, planning and delivery or support of clinical service improvement experience.
4. Experience of working within an independent healthcare provider (desirable)
5. Expert knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to clinical governance and Clinical practice CQC
6. Leading job planning, appraisals, setting objectives
7. Knowledge and understanding of key NHS issues, including national and local policy drivers that are complex and highly politicised
8. Highly developed knowledge and understanding of key organisation systems and NHS modernisation agenda
9. Experience of clinical audit and research

Job responsibilities
10. Provision of expert and credible professional advice to PHL Healthcare Division Leadership Team and on occasion to PHL Group Executive Management Board, Quality Committee, and other appropriate sub committees.
11. Professional governance of clinicians working within PHL Healthcare
12. Provide strong leadership for the Clinical workforce ensuring a culture of compassion, trust and openness and accountability for delivery of strategic direction, values and objectives.
13. In collaboration with HR and the Governance team ensure that effective systems are in place for job planning, appraisals, and revalidation of Clinical staff and practicing privileges.
14. Encourage and support the Clinical team to take responsibility for their own learning and development and be compliant with mandatory training and learning from audit, complaints, incidents etc.
15. Lead on the strategy for safe recruitment, selection, induction of the clinical workforce under your professional leadership and management, ensuing that they are suitably qualified and trained and are competent and capable for their role and responsibility.
16. Ensure that the performance of Clinical staff is conducive to the delivery of the service objectives and the values of PHL Healthcare and take the lead in implementing processes that identify, support and manage poorly performing clinicians. .
17. Lead on any disciplinary and performance issues within the Clinical workforce in line with PHL Healthcare policy
18. Responsible for promoting the health and wellbeing of the clinical team.
19. Is resilient and able to provide effective leadership to the team, including in situations that are unfamiliar, complex and unpredictable.
20. Provide teaching, mentorship and coaching as appropriate.
21. As PHLs Healthcare senior Clinical voice, network and consult with national and local Clinical colleagues in support of the clinical and quality strategy and PHLs Healthcare strategic objectives. For example, in England (NHS England) & Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN).Scotland HIS (Healthcare Improvement Scotland), NES (NHS Education Scotland), Royal Colleges and Academies
22. Work collaboratively with PHL Group Director of Nursing and Quality to deliver corporate objectives and clinical strategy.
