IOS Recovery Navigator

We have 1.7 FTE vacancies and will consider Part-time and Full-time applicants

Location: South Wiltshire (Offices in Salisbury)

Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the Southwest offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other support needs.
We aim to inspire hope and deliver change for everybody and every community we work with.

Do you want to support people in complex mental health crises to regain independence?

Can you build strong, trusting relationships that promote recovery and resilience?

Do you want to work in a trauma-informed team that values hope, inclusion, and lived experience?

If so, you could be the person we are looking for…

About the Service

The Intensive Outreach Service (IOS) supports individuals across Bath and North-East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) who are experiencing severe and enduring mental health challenges. We work alongside the AWP Intensive Team to deliver person-centred, trauma-informed and culturally inclusive support, helping individuals move toward stability, independence and engagement in their communities.

IOS is part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership, a collaboration between Second Step, Alabaré, Missing Link and Nilaari, working in partnership with NHS providers and Primary Care Networks across BSW.

About You

As a Recovery Navigator, you’ll be embedded in a multi-disciplinary team, delivering intensive, personalised support. Your responsibilities will include:

* Meeting clients face-to-face (in the community or client’s home), online and by phone to conduct support conversations and co-create recovery goals.
* Offering practical interventions including safety planning, crisis support, grounding techniques and skills building.
* Working collaboratively with health and social care professionals to coordinate care.
* Promoting independence by helping people navigate services like housing, debt advice, or employment support.
* Recording your work using client-focused, trauma-informed approaches.
* Advocating for inclusion and equality, especially for marginalised and minoritised individuals.

You’ll need to bring:

* At least two years’ experience supporting people with mental health or complex needs.
* Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
* Knowledge of risk and safeguarding protocols and the ability to manage complex situations with care.
* A trauma-informed and person-centred approach to support.
* Lived experience or deep understanding of mental health recovery is welcomed and valued.
* Ability to travel to multiple appointments across the locality within the day.

We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience and from underrepresented communities.

Second Step offers an excellent annual leave package, access to our Employee Assistance Programme, a supportive supervision culture, and a full induction with ongoing development opportunities.

So…if you think this describes you, what are you waiting for?
