NES Fircroft is currently recruiting an Occupational Hygienist for our client, a leading Oil & Gas Operator based in Norwich. This is a permanent position offering an excellent salary and benefits package. The role is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Overview:
This position offers an opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team, responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program. The primary focus is on the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across UK operations in the Southern North Sea. The role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
The role is based in Norwich, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with medic/HSEAs and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazards, health impacts, and monitoring requirements.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic risks, including:
o Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
o Workplace exposure monitoring for substances like benzene, toluene, mercury, lead, solvents, asbestos, noise, vibration, radiation, thermal hazards, and biological hazards such as mould, pathogens, and animal/insect hazards.
* Design and recommend control strategies; monitor and evaluate their effectiveness through testing and inspections.
* Deliver training programs on occupational hygiene topics like asbestos awareness and PPE use.
* Conduct inspections and audits across operational sites, including support centers and accommodation areas, ensuring standards are met.
* Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene.
* At least 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Desirable: Oil & Gas experience, Radiation Protection Supervisor certification.
* Strong communication skills and ability to influence management and staff.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
