Offer description

We are looking to recruit a Transport Planner to join our Passenger Transit Group within our Transport Planning & Mobility team working across the UK. The role is advertised in our Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and Newcastle offices, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home working. If you are interested in this role but would need to be based from a different WSP office location then please contact Andrew.Trueman@wsp.com to review options.

Responsibilities

As a Transport Planner in the Passenger Transit Group, you will work across all passenger modes to support the development of transit schemes and projects from inception through to completion. This is a varied role with responsibilities including:

* Contributing to a variety of projects and proposals (both technical and commercial inputs) and delivering high quality outputs in line with client requirements.
* Bringing your passion and knowledge of Passenger Transit to deliver high quality and effective outcomes for our clients.
* Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; working with our other WSP service lines to deliver large multi-disciplinary projects from concept to delivery.
* Playing a supporting role in securing and delivering work for our large local client portfolio.
* Contribute to the financial performance of your projects and the commercial performance of our team.
* Making an active contribution to WSP's four key pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise).

You will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with our Net Zero and Future Mobility growth areas on a range of innovative strategies for our public and private sector clients, as well as being a key member of our expertise practice group.

Your Team

We have a core Passenger Transit leadership team spread across the UK, leading regional client relationships and supporting key projects in their specialist areas. You would be a part of the wider UK team working in Passenger Transit which is around 30 strong, supplemented by colleagues across the global business, enabling us to deploy significant multi-disciplinary teams when our clients need a whole life, multi-stage approach to project delivery.

We are ‘mode-agnostic’ and cover all options whether on road or rails. Our team members benefit from having front-line operational experience, and many have worked alongside or within Regional, Combined and Local Authorities, giving us direct relevant experience to understand our client’s challenges.

Our clients include developers, Local Authorities, Sub‑National Transport Bodies and Combined Authorities. This provides our staff with the opportunity to work in a range of roles, across multiple disciplines, and realise their career aspirations, whatever they may be.

We have a strong national pipeline of work, and the successful applicant will help us to deliver challenging and exciting work.

Qualifications

* Prior experience in passenger transit and mobility planning and design, and transport data analysis.
* A demonstrable understanding of the regulatory and legislative environment in which passenger transit services are delivered.
* Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and colleagues.
* Experience of working with passenger transit clients.
* Understanding of project management skills developed across a range of transport and multi-disciplinary projects.
* Creative, innovative mind-set, lateral thinker.
