Education Mental Health/Children's Wellbeing Practitioner

Due to recent promotion and growth within the Wellbeing & Emotional Support Teams (WEST), South Worcestershire and Wyre Forest teams, we are now seeking qualified EMHP and/or CWP to join our localities.
The WEST team is a forward‑thinking, supportive & hardworking team that is continuously developing as individuals and as a service. We provide high‑quality, evidence‑based CBT interventions to children & young people in schools and colleges, focusing on a Whole School Approach to create mentally healthy environments.
We are a supportive team and will give you full induction with shadowing, alongside development & training opportunities. We provide resources to develop & progress should you wish to do so, as well as flexibility and support, making the WEST environment a great place to work.
Staffing levels: full‑time and part‑time posts, 30 hours minimum. Work base will be discussed and confirmed at interview.
Main duties of the job
We are a busy service covering schools and higher education colleges in Worcestershire. You will deliver low‑intensity CBT interventions (1:1 or group) in your aligned schools, as well as Whole School Approach activities, keeping CYP at the heart of everything you do.
Under the support of the operational lead, clinical lead and senior practitioners, you will manage a caseload of patients, complete assessments, care plans and other relevant documentation whilst maintaining fidelity to the low‑intensity CBT model.
An understanding of risk management & safeguarding is essential. You will be supported with managing this within the team.
You will receive regular case‑management and clinical skills supervision and participate in MDT/screening meetings.
You will work closely with families, school staff & other professionals and, at times, deliver consultations & signposting advice to other agencies. Strong interpersonal skills are key.

Person Specification
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
* IT competency
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle to meet travel requirements
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of health services
* Working knowledge of mental health issues in CAMH services
* Knowledge of safeguarding & risk issues
* Knowledge of capacity and consent including Gillick competence
* Experience in delivering evidence‑based CBT interventions for children and adolescents
* Good knowledge of recognised disorders and illnesses in mental health
Qualifications
* Successful completion of the HEE‑commissioned 1‑year Education Mental Health Practitioner Course or Children Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) qualification
* Current registration with the relevant professional body (BPS/BABCP)
* Will provide original certificates to verify qualifications at point of offer
Experience
* Experience working with children and young people, their families and others
* Post‑registration experience in emotional and wellbeing assessment and care
* Experience liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
* Use of therapeutic interventions within mental health settings (1:1, counselling, family therapy and group work, providing consultation)
* 12‑month minimum post‑registration experience in child health or mental health care
* Experience working with children and families in an educational setting
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience working within a community/public health team

Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year, pro rata for part time.
