There is an opportunity to join our Compliance Team within the Housing Investment team of Environment, Housing and Infrastructure at Renfrewshire Council.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for leading the strategic management of Statutory Compliance and Regulatory undertakings related to HRA assets, including inspection and service regimes for Gas and Electric Safety. Your role will ensure that Renfrewshire Communities and Housing Services (RCHS) remains fully compliant and minimizes residual risks to tenants, employees, and third parties. You will support the procurement and delivery of statutory compliance contracts, oversee internal and external Quality Control/Quality Assurance arrangements, and monitor and report on performance.
You will assist in developing and implementing a strategic approach to effectively manage Landlord Compliance statutory obligations and regulatory undertakings, reducing risks to customers, employees, and third parties.
Your responsibilities for strategic Statutory Compliance Safety Management include ensuring a comprehensive end-to-end Landlord Compliance service covering:
* Gas Safety (including other forms of heating such as solid fuel, solar, ground/air source heat pumps)
* Electric Safety (including ECIR, lightning protection, power-operated doors, gates, and barriers)
Qualifications required:
* An HNC or equivalent in a construction or maintenance-related discipline
* One of the following certifications:
* GASESAFE Level 4 VRQ in Gas Safety Management in Social Housing or equivalent
* BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations, IEE Wiring Regulations, or similar electrical qualification for fixed electrical equipment and portable appliance testing regimes
You should be a self-motivated individual with experience in Statutory Health and Safety Compliance within the Social Housing Sector, particularly in Gas Safety and/or Electrical Safety. You must be capable of working independently, possess effective communication skills, IT skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload are essential.
Knowledge of relevant health and safety issues within compliance and maintenance/construction fields, including current legislation related to Gas Servicing, Electrical installations, or Legionella prevention, is essential.
Experience in a similar role within a local authority or Housing Association and a full driving license are desirable.
