The opportunity
Reporting to the Owl Director, the Head of Performance’s core purpose is to drive business growth through net adviser headcount growth and increased productivity. Identifying and acting on growth opportunities in the market and building and maintaining strong relationships with key Area Managers, advocating entrepreneurial and safe business growth
The Head of Performance should embody the Openwork leadership attributes in leading a team of Business Development Managers to uphold our culture and values, ensuring Advisers and Managers that see Owl as the place to stay and grow. Accountabilities:
1. Drive increase in recruitment, performance and retention of Owl Advisers and Managers
2. Grow production volume, optimum product mix by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors
3. Proactively promote the Owl brand and proposition
4. Setting clear performance expectations and providing regular, constructive feedback through formal and informal channels
5. Identifying individual strengths and development needs and creating tailored development plans to support career progression
6. Conducting regular performance evaluations, recognising achievements, and addressing performance challenges promptly and supportively
7. Supporting succession planning by identifying and nurturing high-potential talent for future leadership roles
8. Encouraging open communication, active listening, and a growth mindset to empower direct reports to reach their full potential
9. Ensuring all management and development activities align with organizational values, regulatory requirements, and business objectives
10. Implementation of strategic initiatives for Owl distribution aligned to Group strategy
11. Work with the Owl Director to determine annual business & growth plans, utilising marketing strategies, trend analysis and results
12. Provide strategic advice, input and direction to the Owl Director on all distribution matters
13. Support and challenge Area Managers with effective quarterly and annual goal setting, projecting expected volume and profit for existing and new products
14. Direct and coordinate the Owl programme of adviser events, promotional activities and recognition schemes

15. A commercial leader with outstanding people skills.
16. The ability to build and nurture relationships with strength and sensitivity will be key to success.
17. Proven ability to crate and lead a high performing business development team.

19. Ability to spot and importantly act upon, growth opportunities in the protection and adviser recruitment market
20. Substantial distribution and operational management experience in Protection market
21. Able to provide strong leadership across all functional areas.
22. Strong analytical & modelling capability to aid data driven decisions
23. Strong understanding of regulatory policy and priorities, in particular Conduct Risk, consumer duty and vulnerable clients.
24. Knowledge of competitor and product provider propositions and be able to represent the Company as a market leading alternative.
25. High levels of Emotional Intelligence coupled with commercial acumen.
26. Strategic vision combined with solid operational skills.
27. Excellent ability to deliver engaging and impactful presentations to a variety of audiences, clearly conveying complex information and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
28. Demonstrates credibility and presence, enabling effective engagement and influence with stakeholders at all levels both within the organisation and externally.
29. Acts with integrity, responsibility and accountability at all times.
