Neonatal Home Care Deputy Sister
The closing date is 19 April 2026
There is an exciting opportunity within the Neonatal Home Care Team for Deputy Home Care Sisters/Charge Nurses. The successful applicants will be employed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), with their main base being at Nottingham University Hospitals, providing cross‑campus cover with Kings Mill Hospital. We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated and experienced children’s or neonatal nurses, or midwives with neonatal experience, to be part of our home‑care team.
The postholder will help to provide a comprehensive service by supporting a 7‑day working week for home care and contributing to the new home phototherapy service. Being part of the neonatal home‑care service at NUH means you will also work within the north hub region of the EMNODN, allowing for opportunities to network across the North Hub, access training and support, and gain knowledge in other neonatal services within the network. This may also involve travel across the region.
Main duties of the job
These posts are specialist nursing roles. You will touch the hearts of families, building relationships, helping them through their experience and providing emotional support. You will see families’ confidence grow and empower them to care for their babies from admission to discharge, to the journey home. It is a unique experience to help the family regain decision‑making in the baby’s care, with your support.
Band 6 Neonatal Deputy Home Care Sisters/Home Care Deputy Charge Nurses based at NUH are required to promote safe, early discharge of babies from the neonatal units, transitional care and paediatrics. Families will be supported by providing ongoing care needs in the home environment, for example the provision of nasogastric tube feeding at home, management of oxygen in the home environment, providing ongoing care for surgical babies, and the jaundice management of the baby requiring phototherapy at home. The Home Care team roles are pivotal to the families’ care. The service enables earliest, safest discharges home to bring the whole family back together.
