About Alcotox Ltd
Alcotox Ltd is a UK-based life sciences company pioneering alcohol harm reduction. Our scientifically validated products neutralise acetaldehyde—the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism—reducing inflammation, organ toxicity, and long-term health risks. Our portfolio spans nutraceuticals, functional beverages, biotech, and AI-driven consumer health tools. Founder-led, investor-backed, and execution-focused, Alcotox is positioned for rapid growth.
We're now seeking a media-savvy, narrative-driven Strategic Communications Lead, ideally a former journalist or features editor to take charge of our storytelling and earned media strategy. This is a fractional, high-impact role designed for someone who knows how the media works from the inside, and can shape compelling, compliant narratives that command attention across health, science, tech, and consumer spaces.
You'll work directly with the CEO to craft and place high-value stories in tier-one media, refine investor messaging, and ensure every external touchpoint reflects our credibility, momentum, and mission.
Key Responsibilities
* Craft compelling media narratives around our scientific breakthroughs, regulatory wins, and commercial traction
* Pitch and place stories in top-tier media (BBC, Times, CNN, Wired, FT, Forbes, etc.) using existing journalist relationships
* Collaborate with internal team (regulatory, science, investor relations) to align comms with compliance and strategy
* Ghostwrite founder op-eds, press releases, thought leadership, and investor-facing content
* Support messaging architecture across web, deck, and DTC funnels for consistency and credibility
* Build a proactive comms roadmap aligned to funding rounds, product launches, and key milestones
Who You Are
* Former health/science journalist, features editor, or senior writer at a major media outlet (BBC, Guardian, FT, New Scientist, etc.)
* Deep understanding of what gets published — and how to pitch it
* Experience writing for both mainstream and scientific audiences (e.g. consumer media + medtech/biotech outlets)
* Strong editorial instincts with an ability to distil complex ideas into sharp, regulatory-safe messaging
* Entrepreneurial mindset, autonomous, disciplined, and motivated by equity-aligned outcomes
* Bonus: Experience ghostwriting for founders or working in early-stage health/science startups
Compensation
* Equity: Performance-linked ownership stake
* Incentives: Upside tied to successful story placement, media reach, and strategic visibility
* Ownership Mentality: Treated as a core team member, not a freelancer
If you're a sharp communicator who's tired of covering the story and ready to become the story, this is your moment.
