Job Description
Establish a strong property legal function which is capable of supporting the strategic growth of the business
Develop and define the legal strategy for the property legal area ensuring that the legal team support the business to deliver on its business Plan
Support the GC to develop and translate company strategy into a set of OKR's and legal performance targets.
Develop and define the estates and acquisition strategy for the business from a legal perspective
Develop a strong relationship with shareholders and other stakeholders to develop reporting templates that ensure shareholders have sufficient visibility and understanding of the commercial function of the business.
Structure, lead, develop and motivate the team to ensure that personal and team objectives are met.
Provide strategic support to the Chief Executive and Executive Management Team in matters relating to property and estates and the running of the business.
Initiate, develop and manage relationships with external law firms to ensure they are appropriate for the advice sought.
Lead in budget and cost management and ensure cost effective contracts are in place and OKRs/ SLAs for performance is set and clear
Be the trusted advisor of the business and undertake/support critical negotiations with third parties where necessary
Advise on disputes and manage high-value litigation and be actively involved in key strategic projects; coordinate the organisation's response to litigation or any potential legal challenge
The Successful Applicant
A successful Head of Legal should have:
UK qualified with at least 15 PQE, with excellent commercial property experience acquired both in private practice and/or in-house.
Experience of managing a legal function in a fast-moving technical environment dealing with high volume /transactional deals and teams of lawyers
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with excellent judgement and analytical skills.
Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to think "outside the box" and develop innovative strategic solutions.
Experience working with senior stakeholders and Boards
What's on Offer
A competitive salary ranging from £110,000 to £130,000 DOE.
An attractive bonus of 20%.PA
Car allowance of £650 per month (£7,800 annually).
