The role
As a Fleet Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the London Fire Brigade by ensuring their vehicles and operational equipment are expertly specified, manufactured, and maintained to meet critical operational standards. From developing technical specifications to leading Engineering solutions that reduce defects and improve efficiency, your work will directly contribute to the reliability of emergency services.
1. Supporting the Engineering Manager and deputising when required
2. Compiling technical documentation including bulletins, inspection guides, and operator handbooks
3. Acting as the focal point for Engineering queries across departments
4. Designing and implementing solutions to reduce defects and improve performance
5. Attending client meetings and leading continuous improvement initiatives
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with minimum 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home. Business demands may require 5 days per week on site during busy periods.
Essential experience of the Fleet Engineer (Senior Mechanical Engineer)
6. Experience with emergency services vehicles and equipment operations or maintenance
7. Fleet Engineering experience
8. Familiarity with Tranman fleet management software
9. Supervisory experience in a technical environment
Qualifications for the Fleet Engineer (Senior Mechanical Engineer)
10. Heavy Goods Vehicle apprenticeship or equivalent experience
11. City and Guilds Parts 1, 2 and 3 or equivalent
