Senior Engineer – VolkerStevin (VolkerWessels UK)

Role Overview:
Senior Engineer responsible for engineering duties and mentorship of the engineering team on a long‑term project in Plymouth, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for all engineering duties and ensuring the engineers under your control complete their duties.
* Educate and mentor the engineering team.
* Produce and manage RAMS, temporary works briefs, ITPs, weekly progress and planning updates, NCs, TQs and Early Warnings.
* Delegate low‑complexity or short‑duration projects (pre‑construction site investigations/survey activities and enabling works).
* Manage SHE performance at site level to support Site Agent.
* Quality performance at site level regarding workmanship and documentation standards.
* Accuracy of engineering controls and management of site engineering team.
* Manage supply chain during construction: progress review, coordination, and 360° degree review and feedback.
* Produce, review, and monitor construction methodology documentation including RAMS and ITPs.
* Produce as‑built documentation from site.
* Forecast, procure and reconcile materials.
* Collate site data for inclusion in Daily Progress Reports.
* Ensure adherence to information management procedures and requirements.
* Manage setting‑out and dimensional control: accuracy, communication to subcontractors, secondary checks, maintenance of long‑term setting‑out and project stations, instrument calibration and testing.
* Undertake buildability reviews of design information.
* Implement Inspection & Test Plan (ITPs) for your section of the works.
* Manage RFIs.
* Maintain accurate records (diaries, photographs, marked‑up drawings) and ensure team does the same.
* Ensure drawings are available and checked at least two weeks prior to implementation.
* Implement the quality management system and support Quality Ripple initiatives.
* Maintain and collate quality records; raise, complete and close NCRs and ensure filing in Workspace.
Qualifications & Experience
* UK national and eligible for security clearance.
* Degree/HNC or equivalent in civil engineering desirable.
* 3–5 years of previous senior engineering experience.
* Excellent IT knowledge including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong communication skills with clients, site teams and operatives.
* Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion.
* Full driving licence.
