Overview
Anaesthetic Consultant opportunity at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, with duties across Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester. This is a full-time 10 PA Consultant post; some anaesthetic sessions may be delivered cross-site by mutual agreement based on service needs.
The successful candidate will join a friendly Anaesthetic Consultant team, providing departmental leadership and supervising junior and mid-grade doctors.
Responsibilities
* Provide a safe, effective, responsive, and caring anaesthetic service to the standard expected of a Consultant.
* Agree a job plan with the Clinical Director in Anaesthetics and work flexibly to meet departmental needs.
* Maintain and develop standards through clinical audit, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice; participate in clinical governance, incident reporting and investigation of serious incidents, and handle complaints as required.
* Strive to meet or exceed the National Patients\' Rights Charter standards.
* Support training requirements for junior doctors, including tutorials and educational supervision where needed.

Requirements
* Professional Qualifications – Full GMC registration with licence to practice; entry onto GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview; MBBS or equivalent; FRCA and CCT in anaesthesia (or CESR).
* Clinical Experience & Knowledge – Experience of general and regional anaesthesia to the level expected of a UK consultant anaesthetist across a wide range of surgical specialties.
* Clinical Skills & Ability – Evidence of organisational ability; willingness to share administrative responsibilities; ability to work flexibly; understanding of NHS systems; leadership with multidisciplinary teams; effective communication; resilience under pressure.
* Teaching & Research – Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; involvement in audit and interpretation of literature; willingness to participate in formal teaching; publications and research activity desirable.
* Other Requirements – A well-organised CV with evidence of training of Specialist Trainees; willingness to work across Trust sites; patient-centred approach; punctuality and reliability.
