We are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team.
The successful candidate will provide accurate and timely financial evaluations, management information, budgets, and forecasts. They will monitor SQA’s financial performance against plans to support management decision-making and act as the interface to main business areas alongside Finance Business Partners. Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis to help budget holders assess financial performance;
2. Providing financial management reports for external stakeholders as required;
3. Coordinating, communicating, and planning the budget and forecast processes within agreed timescales;
4. Analyzing budget and forecast returns and highlighting areas needing action;
5. Supporting the financial accountant with year-end tasks;
6. Supporting and covering banking tasks for the finance officer.
Essential skills and experience include:
1. Guiding budget users in planning, creating, and monitoring budgets and forecasts;
2. Reviewing and improving financial controls;
3. Contributing to the development of financial systems, processes, and procedures;
4. Proficiency in MS Excel is desirable.
Applicants should have at least a SCQF Level 8 qualification (HND/Degree in a financial discipline), be a part-qualified accountant with a CCAB body, or have at least 3 years of relevant experience.
