Job Purpose
To support the Senior Buyer in purchasing products essential to the business and the management of key supplier accounts as well as new supplier contracts of varying size.
Key Responsibilities
To monitor or expedite due or overdue orders in line with departmental KPIs and maintain OTIF records. Update BU production schedules daily following overnight GRN report.
To place or amend purchase orders in line with the authorisation procedures, both Direct and Indirect categories.
Instigate and maintain supplier folders, agreements, introduce confidentiality agreements, log order acknowledgements and action invoice queries in a timely manner.
Analyse and negotiate proposed supplier price increases in line with agreed procedures and conduct supplier audits using standard documents and reports available.
Create and maintain quote files for all standard items and negotiate price reductions, carriage paid prices, extended payment terms and discounts in line with departmental KPIs and maintain detailed records.
In line with the Business Unit requirements negotiate delivery, stocking methods and inventory management and in conjunction with relevant departments continually improve the quality of suppliers and decrease defect rates.
Review MRP demands daily to add comment where orders are not placed and maintain system lead times and update management of major changes.
To prepare for and attend regular departmental/production meetings representing the purchase team and deputise for the Senior Buyer.
To carry out short term assignments / initiatives / exercises as requested.
To maintain data, gather data, supplement data to support informed decision making / fact finding reports.

Ensure compliance with company policy and procedures.
Carry out all work practices in line with the Company Health and Safety Policy.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Numeracy & literacy.
GCSE Level C & above & /Or NVQ Level 3 & upwards, Plus IT skills & knowledge & use of company software. Ability to use business processes, equipment & systems (SAP) to a reasonable standard and /or have a working knowledge of them.
Demonstrable experience of ensuring on time delivery milestones for complex projects.
Purchasing/Supply Chain purchasing experience (preferably gained from within a manufacturing/engineering environment).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
Proven capability to negotiate in a competitive and changing environment.
Ability to work within defined budgets and Company policy and procedure.
Excellent IT skills
