Overview
We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to join our Maternal Mental Health Service, part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service. This role supports the psychological care of clients under supervision and contributes to audit, research and project work within the service, including our inequalities workstream.
Responsibilities
* Support psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to an agreed plan and within the team\'s policies and procedures.
* Assist with clinically related administration, audits, statistics collection, and development of audit and/or research projects.
* Work on a one-to-one and/or group basis in a highly emotive atmosphere while maintaining professionalism.
* Support the coordination and running of therapeutic groups and contribute to multi-disciplinary reviews.
* Develop a psychological framework of understanding and care for service users across care settings.
* Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings as directed by qualified psychologists.
* Use initiative to work with service users on planned work and exercise judgement based on NICE guidelines and local procedures.
* Work with potentially distressing material related to service users\' personal histories and presentation, including risk to self and others.
* Receive regular clinical supervision in line with professional guidelines and trust policy.
* Develop skills to support delivery of current duties and, where appropriate, contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.
* Assist in design and implementation of service development projects within the service and attend planned meetings.
* Be competent in the use of basic IT packages and develop skills in administering and analysing psychometric measures as directed.
* Undertake data collection, analysis, and preparation of full reports and summaries using IT and statistical software.
* Review evidence-based literature and research to support qualified psychologists and other team members as necessary.
* Prepare test materials and visual aids as required and maintain stock of materials.
* Contribute to maintaining high professional standards and quality of practice through CPD and professional development planning.
* Assist in the design and implementation of audit, effectiveness, and research projects.
* Perform other duties of a similar kind relevant to the grade as required by the Psychological Services Manager.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience or lived experience of health inequalities is welcomed and valued; applications from those with such experience are encouraged.
* Travel around the geographical patch is essential.
* Ability to work within a compassionate care framework and the Trust\'s values.
* Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and across care settings.
