ByteDance's Data Systems Infrastructure (DSI) team stands as the unseen architects behind the scenes, constructing and orchestrating colossal data fortresses, taming server fleet lifecycles, conjuring cloud solutions, and crafting a symphony of infrastructure services to ensure scalability and unwavering reliability.
Embark on an exciting expedition to explore ByteDance's expanding domain across the US, Europe, and Asia, building data citadels for hundreds of thousands of servers and managing the full server life cycle from deployment to decommissioning.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to enhancing the stability, efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of data center and server operations on a worldwide scale.
* Participate in and enhance the entire lifecycle of the server fleet – from system design and introduction consultation to launch reviews, deployment, operation, and retirement.
* Develop and deploy tools and solutions to elevate automation, reliability, scalability, and operability of servers in the data center.
* Develop and deploy tools and solutions to improve availability, latency, and overall service of data center infrastructure, servers, and network health.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in high‑pressure, time‑sensitive environments, conducting root‑cause analysis and establishing preventive measures.
* Collaborate with stakeholders such as infrastructure architects, project managers, data center operations engineers, platform developers, supply chain teams, and internal customers to comprehend business objectives and design innovative solutions for Core IDCs and CDN/Edge.
* Engage in on‑call support across regions and incident response teams to address critical issues in the production environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 5+ years of experience in Server Operations with a proven track record.
* Proficiency in Linux system administration, with deep understanding of kernels, drivers, and modules.
* Skilled scripting in Bash and Python for automating system operations, performance tuning, and security management in Linux environments.
* In-depth understanding of server hardware and capability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex faults.
* Over 5 years of experience planning, implementing, and operating large‑scale data centers across multiple countries.
* Experience managing and coordinating teams in a global context.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in data center operations, including OS installations, break‑fix operations, and large‑scale infrastructure lifecycle projects.
* Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of GPU servers.
