The Role
To work autonomously as part of the school nursing team, to promote the health and wellbeing of school aged children and young people in all aspects of physical. Mental and emotional health. This is achieved through health surveillance and screening, detecting signs of ill health and abnormalities and supporting independent lifestyle choices to promote health in both the school and community setting.

What we'll need you to bring
Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Excellent time management skills
Working knowledge of basic information technology
Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
Evidence of further education/Continuous Professional Development
Attend in service training as required
Relevant post registration experience
Some experience working within a community setting.
Experience working with children
Knowledge and experience of working with MIDIS
Knowledge of the immunisation programme for children age 5-19.
Awareness and understanding of child protection issues and protocol
Knowledge of child development/disease i.e asthma
The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team leadership skills with the ability to work using own initiative
Able to prioritise workload and demonstrate efficient working practices
Knowledge of the NHSL geographic area
Contract type
Fixed Term or Secondment for 6 months
Full time
37 hours - term time.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 6 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Coathill Hospital, Coatbridge.
The working pattern for this role Mon-Fri; 9:00-5:00.
