The Internal Audit and Investigations Directorate (IAID) is a key function within FCDO and enjoys a high profile with top management, Ministers, and the Foreign Secretary. The IAID is independent and stands outside the core business structure. The Director of IAID reports directly to the Permanent Under Secretary and the Audit Committee, providing independent and objective advice and assurance as to the effective functioning of FCDO's operations.
This position is based in the IAID's Investigations Department, which is divided into three teams: the Reporting Concerns Team, the Safeguarding Investigations Team and the Fraud Investigations Team. This role is in the Fraud Investigations Team, which is responsible for ensuring the appropriate investigatory response to all reported allegations of fraud and corruption. There will be occasional working across disciplines.

Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
+ Be part of the Investigations Department senior management team, supporting the delivery of a high-class fraud investigations service for the FCDO and contribute to the continuous improvement, strategy and direction of the department.
+ Lead and manage a team of fraud specialists, building an inclusive and supportive team, setting direction, providing support and advice and acting as a professional role model and leader within the department.
+ Act as Senior Responsible Officer for a large portfolio of fraud investigations and casework, ensuring high quality outputs that align with business objectives to deliver an effective investigatory and advisory response. The portfolio of cases that you will oversee can involve your team directly leading investigations, supporting posts in the network, or working with partners to investigate themselves while ensuring allegations are responded to appropriately.
+ Develop effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders, both internal to FCDO and across the international sector representing IAID and helping drive coherent activity across the organisation.
+ Support the management information and data analysis agenda, building data analysis and reporting processes and systems that continually identify risks and trends to inform and drive proactive action.
+ Lead on briefings for Director Generals, Permanent Under Secretary and Ministers on portfolio updates and high-profile casework.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, additional support for ongoing professional training and qualifications may be available.
There will be international travel to a range of FCDO's offices and partners, which encompass UN agencies and other multilaterals, private sector partners, and international NGOs. Typically, overseas visits would involve a trip of one to two weeks to the FCDO post in country.

£57,500
London based - The total package for this role at Grade 7 is £62,500 per annum (non-negotiable). This figure includes a non-pensionable, non-consolidated Location Allowance of £5,000.
Milton Keynes based - The total package for this role at Grade 7 is £59,250 per annum (non-negotiable). This figure includes a non-pensionable, non-consolidated Location Allowance of £1,750.
East Kilbride based - The total package for this role at Grade 7 is £57,500 per annum (non-negotiable).
Future pay awards will be performance related, linked to the annual appraisal process and may also include a non-consolidated Performance Related Payment (PRP), dependent on the level of performance. All future awards are subject to guidance issued annually by HM Treasury and the Cabinet Office.
