Senior Clinical Lecturer (Scholarship), Medicine, Medical Sciences & Nutrition (MED260A)
Senior Clinical Lecturers work as part of the General Practice Community Medical Education (GPCME) team. General Practice is a key specialty in undergraduate medical teaching at the University of Aberdeen, with a GP Enhanced Programme supported throughout the University and at a national level. This is an exciting time to consider a position within the GP teaching team, with significant activity maintaining existing strong community teaching and developing novel teaching methods.
This part‑time, 40% FTE Senior Years post is specific to lead Year 5 GP teaching and requires excellent organisational and communication skills. The applicant will develop strong relationships with numerous practices across different Health Boards in Scotland, providing GP clinical placements for students at the University of Aberdeen.
Salary: 40% of £118,647 per annum, pro rata. The post requires some flexible work, and we would be happy to discuss how this can work for both those interested and the core team.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be line‑managed by the Senior Years GP Strategic Lead and will work closely with the administration team to ensure the ongoing smooth running of student placements. This role will also involve working with the Year 4 GP Lead, existing GP Teaching Leads in NHS Highland and with colleagues from the wider MBChB university team. There is significant work being done within the University of Aberdeen curriculum relating to Senior Years changes.
Responsibilities include:
* Support GP teaching colleagues to facilitate the delivery of clinical placement learning experiences for students in GP practices
* Integrate novel teaching approaches with real patients in a GP/Mental Health Teaching Centre
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with GP practices across Health Boards
* Collaborate with university teaching leads and administration teams to manage student placements
