Hours of work: 14 hours per week over 2 days (Monday and Tuesday) working from 8.30am to 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break. £17.04-£17.98 per hour. You will be responsible for the effective administration, management and organisation of the school library in Castlehead High School. The school library is open 3 days per week so will be shared with another librarian working 1 day. Duties of the post include: to select relevant books and other learning resources to support the curriculum and the whole school community; to provide assistance and support to pupils and staff using the library; to encourage effective use of ICT and online resources; and to provide opportunities, activities and events to develop and enhance learning and literacy. You must have a degree or postgraduate diploma in library and information studies or equivalent professional library qualification; have excellent ICT skills; and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment. You must also have the ability to work under your own initiative with minimum supervision, and good communication skills. Experience of working in a library, and experience of working with children and young people is desirable, as is a knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and of children’s literature.
