The Role
As an Enforcement Officer, you will help deliver our Planning Enforcement Service by investigating and managing breaches of planning control across the North York Moors National Park.
Specifically, you will manage your own enforcement caseload, visiting sites across the Park as needed to monitor compliance with planning conditions and investigate complaints about unauthorised developments.
Working to resolve planning breaches in housing and other construction developments, you will support legal processes, contributing to planning appeals and preparing documentation for court cases as required.
Additionally, you will:
* Deal with compliance issues arising from planning applications and legal notices
* Assist with planning and listed building consent applications
* Write reports and recommendations for presentation to the Planning Committee where necessary
* Liaise with external organisations on planning issues
* Help to prepare cases for enforcement hearings, inquiries and courts
About You
To be considered as an Enforcement Officer, you will need:
* Experience in development management
* Up-to-date knowledge of relevant planning law
* Good interpersonal skills with a wide range of people
* Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear committee reports and strong presentation skills
* The ability to negotiate effectively
* A good level of IT literacy
* A full, valid driving licence
