IT Service Specialist - Platforms IBM
Clarks, Street, Somerset BA16 0EQ UK (Hybrid)
The Infrastructure Platforms team manages server-related infrastructure and hardware within Clarks' data centers, including virtualisation, storage, compute, backup, and recovery. This role offers broad experience across systems and services, with accountability for many technologies in a small team environment.
What You'll Do
Activities include remote management of operating systems, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, hardware replacement, storage appliance maintenance, cabling, and firmware updates. Out-of-hours support on a rota basis is required.
What You'll Bring
Successful candidates will have:
* A strong foundation in IT support, hardware troubleshooting, operating systems, and network issues.
* Ideally 3-5 years of experience in AIX/Linux system administration.
* Experience managing IBM Power hardware, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and firmware/software management.
* Preferably some experience with IBM Storage, including provisioning, snapshot restore, and replication policy maintenance.
* An opportunity to learn IBM Workload Scheduler if not previously experienced.
* Experience in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and disaster recovery procedures.
* Maintaining SFTP servers and scripts.
* Opportunity to learn IBM Spectrum Protect for backup and recovery, including tape libraries and disk backup targets.
* Experience working in small teams, making risk-based decisions under pressure, and effective communication with teams and project stakeholders.
