Senior Operations Manager – 13 k sq ft Warehouse Hub
Shropshire (On-site) | £42–45 k + bonus + rapid growth equity
Who we are :
We are a fast-growing, design-led home and living group running two complementary channels: a direct to consumer brand and a wholesale/B2B arm. From our 13,000 sq ft, 1,400-pallet, fully racked UK hub in Shropshire we manage everything from ocean freight to the customer’s doorstep. We now need a data driven, sleeves rolled up Senior Operations Manager to own and scale our end to end warehouse and logistics function.
The role :
You will act as Site Lead for a high growth, Amazon standard operation, but with the agility of a start up. Reporting to the COO, you will run inbound, storage, pick/pack, courier dispatch, last mile and returns, while also supporting tradeshow and photoshoot logistics. You’ll set strategy, build systems and still jump on the floor when needed.
Key responsibilities :
* Operational excellence
* Own all UK warehouse & logistics KPIs: inventory accuracy (>98%), order turnaround, cost per unit, safety, OTIF.
* Drive Lean, 5S, Six Sigma and other CI initiatives to keep pace with 2-3× annual volume growth.
* Plan capacity, labour and CAPEX for seasonal peaks and new product launches.
* Build and refine SOPs, SLAs and dashboards that scale.
People & culture :
* Lead, coach and inspire a team of supervisors, leads and associates (permanent & temp).
* Own the full staffing lifecycle: hiring, training, performance management and succession planning.
* Embed a zero-incident safety culture and best-in-class employee engagement.
Customer & quality:
* Ensure inbound QC, outbound accuracy and returns grading maximise sell-through and customer satisfaction.
* Partner with sourcing, finance and tech to pilot automation, WMS upgrades and AI-driven QC.
What you bring :
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or related field.
* 5+ years’ management experience in warehouse, fulfilment, 3PL or high-volume manufacturing.
* Proven record of delivering KPI improvements and cost savings.
* Demonstrated team leadership (managers and frontline) with strong coaching skills.
* Analytical mindset, advanced Excel/data skills and clear communicator at all levels.
Preferred :
* MBA or master’s.
* Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
* E-commerce or B2B logistics scale-up experience.
* 3PL and carrier contract negotiation know-how.
What success looks like in year 1:
* Warehouse runs at ≥98 % inventory accuracy with same-day dispatch SLAs.
* Order-to-dispatch cycle time reduced >20 %.
* Zero lost-time accidents.
* Team engagement scores in top quartile, turnover below industry average.
* Smooth scaling to 2× volume without service degradation.
