The Role
As a Project Assistant, you’ll play an important part in supporting the successful delivery of complex, high‑profile and mission‑critical international submarine support programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to build a meaningful career in defence, aerospace and engineering - working within a team that keeps global communities safe.
You’ll be joining our Mission Systems business, contributing to programmes that integrate world‑leading technology, intelligence, surveillance and communications solutions. This role gives you the chance to develop your project management skills, gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, and grow towards future roles such as Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Support a focused project delivery team, working closely with two Assistant Project Managers.
2. Contribute to weekly, monthly and quarterly project and programme reporting.
3. Support risk and opportunity management activities.
4. Maintain delivery schedules, forecasts and baseline change requests.
5. Raise, track and monitor purchase order requisitions to support procurement activities.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 1 day in the office and 4 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Project Assistant
6. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
7. Experience working effectively as part of a team.
8. Ability to demonstrate drive, initiative and a positive approach to daily tasks.
9. Strong organisational skills and a task‑orientated mindset.
10. (Desirable) Experience raising requisitions or working with purchase orders.
11. (Desirable) Experience of IFS or similar ERP/Oracle systems.
Qualifications for the Project Assistant
12. No formal qualifications are required for this role.
13. Any project-related training or exposure to ERP systems would be beneficial.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. You will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but you will need to obtain Security Check (SC) once in post.
