The role

Description

The starting salary for this role is £56,439 per annum, working 36 hours per week.

We have a great opportunity to join our North West mental health social care team as an Assistant Team Manager.

We support hybrid working with the right balance. We come together in person for two days per week on average (40% of the working week) and support working from home the rest of the time.

  • About the Role

    As an Assistant Team Manager, you will demonstrate a high level of understanding and commitment to applying our duties under the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act in the communities we serve. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who can support decision making implemented by senior social workers, social workers, social care assistants and AMHPs within the team.

    We are a supportive and friendly team where members feel valued. Together we have a wealth of mental health knowledge and experience and there is a strong emphasis on learning and development which is promoted via regular supervision, team meetings and reflection sessions. Experience supervising others, developing effective relationships with partner agencies, service users and carers is required for this role.

    As an Assistant Team Manager, you will be managing and supporting the day-to-day running of a busy, dynamic mental health social care team and prioritising daily challenges effectively. Excellent communication skills and confidence implementing practice decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs is required for this role. You will have line management responsibilities and work with partner agencies to support interagency working and some direct work with clients and service users. A structured induction programme will be provided.

    Shortlisting Criteria

    In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with

  • Professional qualification in social work and registered with the relevant registration authority 
  • Significant post-qualification experience, including experience providing formal supervision to others
  • Excellent knowledge of our duties under the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act
  • Confidence in making sound decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs and the ability to prioritise daily challenges
  • Ability to develop effective partner relationships with service users, carers and partner agencies.
  • Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a business insured vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
