Senior Legal Counsel – North Yorkshire This is an opportunity to step into a senior, visible in-house legal role where your advice will directly influence high-value, long-term capital projects in a heavily regulated environment. Our client is a well-established international organisation with significant ongoing investment in UK infrastructure. The legal team plays a central role in enabling the business to deliver projects responsibly, commercially and at pace. Why this role matters This is not a back-office legal position. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, helping them navigate risk, structure key projects and make confident commercial decisions. Your input will have a tangible impact on how projects are shaped, delivered and governed. Your involvement • Advising the business on a wide range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters • Supporting large-scale infrastructure and energy-related projects from inception to delivery • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts of varying size and complexity • Leading on legal risk identification and mitigation across the business • Supporting transactions including acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships • Managing disputes, claims and the use of external legal advisers • Coaching and educating internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters • Contributing to process improvements, legal technology and new ways of working What you need to bring • Qualification as a solicitor with strong commercial and corporate experience • Confidence operating in a complex, regulated environment • The ability to manage legal and commercial risk pragmatically • Sound judgement when handling high-profile or sensitive matters • A collaborative, business-facing mindset and the confidence to work autonomously • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail What’s in it for you? • Exposure to significant, high-impact infrastructure projects with real visibility • A broad, varied role offering influence across multiple parts of the business • The chance to work closely with senior decision-makers rather than advising at arm’s length • International collaboration with legal colleagues outside the UK. • Scope to develop your skills further through complex work and ongoing learning.
