Trustees and treasurer

Single Homeless Project
Treasurer
Posted: 14 September
Offer description

Overview

These appointments are offered on a voluntary basis, and entail an estimated time commitment of 9 – 12 days per year.

The Single Homeless Project (SHP) began in 1975, when six homeless Londoners set out to challenge the system and make their vision of a safe place to live for everyone a reality. A lot has changed since then, but our spirit hasn’t. In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging.

And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We work with them to develop skills, improve health and well-being, and build confidence and resistance so they can move from homelessness to independence—whether that be employment, a strong social community, or their own place to call home. Our expert teams also prevent hundreds of struggling Londoners from becoming homeless in the first place.

This is a particularly exciting time to join SHP, as we mark our 50th Anniversary with the launch of a bold new strategy, and enter a new and ambitious era of development and impact. To support this, we are now seeking to appoint up to four Trustees, and a Treasurer who will also chair the Finance & Audit Committee.

For the Trustee appointments, we’re particularly interested in people who can bring a background in the provision of homelessness or supported housing services (which must include safeguarding); or with the work of Registered Providers; or with an understanding of the commissioning and contractual environment or in fundraising; or in digital, AI and innovation.

On the other hand, our new Treasurer will be an experienced, qualified senior finance professional with substantial personal credentials in advising and supporting organisations through periods of development and opportunity. An expert in governance, they will also go on to chair our Audit and Risk Committee.

Wherever you are now, you can expect to be part of a tenacious, diverse, high-performing and genuinely committed team of non-executives, working in close concert with our uniquely talented management team.
