This is essentially a breast radiology job, requiring someone who is capable of running a busy symptomatic ‘one-stop’ clinic (with biopsies) on their own and who is also competent to do NHSBSP work, i.e. film reading and assessment clinics.
They must be able to do all the usual breast interventions, e.g. wide bore needle and vacuum assisted biopsy and lymph node sampling. All films are double read here, albeit the ones from a ‘one-stop’ clinic are second read after the clinic is over.
There is scope for a small amount of general work – we can probably do without the individual on Fridays and another half day, if he/she wanted to keep their hand in; but it is the breast side that I am personally more interested in. Someone who has ‘done a bit’ of breast work would not be satisfactory.
The rate for this will be the NHS Locum rate of: £74,504 - £100,446 for 40hr working week (no on call supplements) this will differ through experience and hours.
