Description
A Senior Financial Aid Counselor provides in-depth counseling to students and parents on financial aid, oversees the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) program, and may lead a team of financial aid staff. This role involves evaluating financial aid applications, processing federal and state aid, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
1. Understand and apply federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies
2. Review student eligibility and ensure timely completion of files
3. Process federal and state funding programs
4. Conduct verification reviews and professional judgment reviews
5. Resolve data conflicts with external entities
6. Research issues related to federal and state systems
7. Ensure accuracy and compliance through audits
8. Provide excellent customer service to students and parents
9. Maintain application statuses within the student information system
10. Verify student aid eligibility through federal and state systems
11. Collaborate with campus partners for holistic service
12. Perform other duties to ensure efficient operations
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience or combination of education and experience
* Preferred: Master’s degree and strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Excellent communication skills and problem-solving experience
* Knowledge of federal and state regulations for financial aid
