Job overview
Thurrock offers an exciting opportunity for Band 6 Health Visitors. Whether you are an experienced Health Visitor or soon to be qualified, we would love to hear from you.
We seek motivated practitioners with initiative and drive who are keen to contribute to our service’s development. We work closely with Family Hubs and other agencies to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities for children, young people, and families in our borough.
For newly qualified practitioners, we offer a Preceptorship Programme to support your development. We also provide a range of in-house and external training for continuous professional growth through our learning and development department.
We support our practitioners with monthly clinical supervision, mentorship, and annual appraisals. We are committed to inclusivity and celebrating the success of practitioners in improving children's health outcomes.
Main duties of the job
To provide key contacts as per the Healthy Child programme, identifying and assessing health needs. To work within the wider multidisciplinary team to support families.
To identify and assess children aged 0-5 with complex health needs, providing an enhanced integrated service within the multi-agency team.
To identify safeguarding concerns and escalate support as needed, working with other agencies across the borough.
You should be able to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team. Excellent communication skills and experience working across organizational boundaries are essential. You should be willing to facilitate and support service delivery changes.

Starting with NELFT
We prioritize proper induction for new starters, who join on the first Monday of each month. The induction lasts up to two weeks and includes mandatory and systems training, equipment allocation, and opportunities to meet the executive team and senior managers. The induction takes place at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This role is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently serving a probation or are bank staff.
High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe
This role attracts a 5% supplement of the basic salary (minimum £1,258, maximum £2,122 per annum pro rata).
