Role Overview
As an EC&I Engineer, you’ll support the design, development, and delivery of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation systems for complex engineering projects. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll help ensure systems are safe, reliable, and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in designing EC&I systems from concept to commissioning
* Produce and review technical documentation:
* Electrical schematics, cable schedules, panel layouts
* Control philosophies and functional design specs
* Develop PLC/HMI software (e.g. Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider)
* Collaborate with mechanical and safety teams for integrated designs
* Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities
* Liaise with suppliers and contribute to design reviews
* Provide input to project planning and proposals
Skills & Experience
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, or similar
* Experience with PLC/HMI systems and CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical)
* Understanding of control systems, instrumentation, and motor control
* Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g. BS EN 60204, BS 7671)
* Strong communication and documentation skills
* Full UK driving licence (travel may be required)
Desirable
* Experience in regulated sectors (e.g. Nuclear, Defence)
* Knowledge of functional safety standards and tools (e.g. SISTEMA)
* Hands-on experience with electrical panels and PLC programming
