We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Carmarthenshire to assist with the appointment of a Street Cleansing Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 - £17.15 per hour
Summary:
The Street Cleansing Operative will undertake duties either individually or as part of a team involving the sweeping, collection, and removal of litter, dirt, leaves, weeds, and refuse from public spaces including roads, pavements, and shopping precincts. The role also involves operating cleansing equipment, assisting with refuse collection, and driving allocated vehicles where required.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out street cleansing duties including litter picking, sweeping, and removal of waste from designated public areas.
* Lift, manoeuvre, sort, and return refuse containers including bins, wheelie bins, sacks, and recycling containers.
* Assist with collection of fly tipping and missed waste collections as directed by supervisors.
* Operate power mechanisms, tools, plant, and cleansing machinery safely and effectively.
* Drive allocated cleansing/refuse vehicles when required and ensure compliance with Road Traffic legislation.
* Conduct routine vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any faults or defects promptly.
Essentials:
* UK Driving Licence – Category B (up to 3.5 tonne GVW)
* Previous experience working within front-line environmental or cleansing services.
* Experience operating mechanical power equipment and relevant machinery.
* Good understanding of cleansing service operations.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work legislation.
