The Role
Seeking an experienced and highly organised Engineering Stores Manager to join our client full-time at a customer site. In this role, you will oversee the day to day operations of the customer’s engineering stores, ensuring that all engineering components, tools and consumables are properly managed, accurately recorded and readily available when needed.
You will act as the primary point of contact between the customer’s engineering team and the company providing seamless support as their inventory management partner.
This role is critical to the success of a growing and ambitious distributor. We are looking for a proactive, detail oriented individual with proven experience in stores or inventory management, ideally in an industrial, technical or engineering environment. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams are essential.
Job Duties
Maintain optimal stock levels of engineering components and consumables
Ensuring accurate tracking, documentation and reporting through computerised inventory systems.
Regularly review stock to prevent shortages, overstock or obsolescence and implement efficient stock rotation practices
Collaborate closely with procurement teams and suppliers to source and replenish stock promptly.
Identify, source and manage hard to find or obsolete components, ensuring minimal disruption to engineering operations
Provide recommendations on supplier performance and cost effective purchasing
Organise and maintain the physical layout of the stores to maximise efficiency, accessibility and safety
Oversee all goods in and goods out processes, including inspection, labelling, quality checks and secure storage.
Continuously review and improve stores procedures to streamline operations
Ensure the stores operate fully in line with health and safety regulations, including COSHH, manual handling and hazardous materials storage.
Maintain safe handling and storage practices for flammable, toxic or sensitive items and conduct regular safety audits
Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the office to deliver exceptional service to the customer
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement, supporting colleagues and sharing best practices
Maintain precise and up to date records of stock usage, movements and inventory counts
Generate reports and analyses to support decision making, and work with partner businesses to meet service level agreements and KPIs
Serve as a key liaison for maintenance and engineering teams, ensuring the timely availability of critical spares for planned maintenance and reactive repairs
Anticipate engineering needs and proactively manage stock to minimise downtime
